Seasonal

All-season tyres — fit once, drive year-round.

The smartest tyre choice for most UK drivers. 3PMSF-rated all-season tyres bridge summer and winter without ever needing a swap.

Summer

5-8% off a pure summer tyre’s grip on a hot dry track. Imperceptible in normal driving.

Wet

Often better than mid-tier summer tyres in heavy UK rain. Wet braking is a genuine all-season strength.

Cold & snow

3PMSF certified — meets the same minimum snow-grip standard as dedicated winter tyres. Surrey snow handled.

Our top all-season picks for Surrey drivers

  • The gold standard. 3PMSF certified, no summer compromise, no winter compromise. Premium pricing but typically 35,000+ miles.

  • Closest rival to CrossClimate. Typically £10-15 cheaper per tyre. Marginally less wet braking but you’d need to test side-by-side to feel it.

  • Premium German engineering with excellent comfort. Slightly less winter capability than CrossClimate but quieter on the motorway.

  • Pirelli’s strong all-season. Sharper turn-in than CrossClimate; slightly shorter life. Good choice if your car was designed around Pirelli.

  • Solid all-rounder with Enliten lightweight compound — slightly better fuel economy than rivals.

  • British mid-tier alternative. Within 10-15% of premium performance at typically 20-25% less cost. Sensible everyday choice.

FAQ

All-season tyre questions, answered.

Are all-season tyres really good enough year-round?+
For UK conditions, yes — modern all-seasons (Michelin CrossClimate 3 launched 2024, Goodyear Vector 4Seasons Gen-3) outperform mid-tier summer tyres in summer AND match dedicated winter tyres for the kind of winter weather Surrey actually gets. The penalty is small: maybe 5-8% worse than the best summer tyre on a hot dry track, and maybe 8-12% worse than a true winter on snow.
Will they work for snow and ice?+
Yes — 3PMSF certified all-seasons (CrossClimate 3, Vector 4Seasons, AllSeasonContact 2) meet the same minimum snow-grip standards as dedicated winter tyres. For UK snow (occasional, rarely heavy) they’re entirely adequate. For Alpine driving, dedicated winter tyres are still better.
What’s the catch?+
You don’t get the absolute best of either world. A pure summer tyre will out-grip an all-season on a hot dry track by 5-8%. A dedicated winter will out-grip an all-season in deep snow by 8-12%. For 95%+ of UK driving, the trade-off is genuinely worth it.
How long do all-season tyres last?+
CrossClimate 3 on a daily-driven family car: 35,000-45,000 miles is typical. Vector 4Seasons similar. That’s comparable to a premium summer tyre — the compound is engineered for durability, not just compromise.
Can I run all-season on my performance car?+
You can but probably shouldn’t. A BMW M3, AMG, RS or M-Sport was tuned around summer tyre grip. An all-season will work but you’ll feel the chassis dialled back. Better to fit summer + a second wheel/tyre set for winter, or accept that the car won’t be driven in cold weather.
Are all-season tyres cheaper than buying both sets?+
Almost always yes. A premium all-season costs roughly the same as a single premium summer set, and saves you the price of winter set + storage + seasonal swap labour. For a typical Surrey driver, all-season saves £400-700 per year vs running two sets.
Do all-seasons void any insurance or warranty?+
No. As long as they’re fitted to manufacturer-spec size, load rating and speed rating, insurance and warranties are unaffected.
Which all-season for an EV?+
CrossClimate 3 or Michelin Primacy 5 (which has an all-season-leaning EV variant). Continental AllSeasonContact 2 is also a strong EV pick — the Q variant has the reinforced sidewall EVs need.
