Suspension & Exhaust
A car can have perfect tyres and still ride badly. Worn shocks, broken springs, or holed exhausts ruin handling and fuel economy. We diagnose, replace, and refit at fair workshop rates.

Suspension and exhaust are the two most-ignored chains of components on most cars — usually until something fails. A worn shock absorber doesn't make a warning light come on. A perished anti-roll-bar bush doesn't MOT-fail until it's torn. A small exhaust blow doesn't set off the engine light. So drivers keep driving — slowly losing handling, fuel economy, and tyre life.
We diagnose the chain end-to-end: shocks (visual check + on-vehicle bounce test), springs (visible damage / ride height check), bushes and links (lever test on the ramp), anti-roll bars, mounting points. Most jobs we find come in pairs — shocks should be replaced as a pair on the same axle to keep handling balanced. Pricing is honest: replace what's worn, leave what isn't.
Exhaust work is more varied. From a £45 weld-on patch on a rear box, to a full system replacement at £589, to a stainless steel performance system for £900+. Catalytic converter and lambda sensor work increasingly common — emissions issues are the #1 MOT fail nationally and we fix more cats per month than anything else.

How it works
1. Diagnostic on the ramp
Free 30-minute suspension and exhaust check. We video any worn parts to show you.
2. Written quote
Itemised parts and labour. You authorise before we start.
3. OE-equivalent parts ordered
KYB, Bilstein, Sachs for shocks. Lemforder or Meyle for bushes/links. Bosal for exhausts. OE if you prefer.
4. Work carried out
Shock replacement: 2 hours typical front axle, 1.5 hours rear. Exhaust replacement: 1-3 hours depending on system complexity.

| Free alignment with suspension | Discounted £69 | Full £89-119 extra |
| Dealer alternative cost | ~£269 axle pair | BMW dealer £550-650 for same work |

Local picture
Surrey roads are notoriously hard on suspension. The A3 between Esher and Wisley, the A317 through Walton-on-Thames, and the A309 through Esher all carry the heaviest pothole damage in west Surrey. We replace a lot of front shocks on Range Rovers, X5s and Q7s every year — air suspension on Range Rover SVR especially fails predictably around 80,000 miles. Most fixes turn around same-day if parts are in stock from our local supplier.
