About Falken

Falken is the performance-focused sub-brand of Sumitomo Rubber Industries (which also owns Dunlop in Asia). Founded in 1983, Falken built its reputation in motorsport — sponsoring the BMW Falken M3 in the Nürburgring 24-hour and a string of WTCC programmes.

For road tyres, Azenis FK510 is the headline UHP product — independently tested as the best non-premium UHP tyre on the market, within 5-8% of Pilot Sport and SportContact performance at typically 25-35% less cost. Wildpeak A/T3WA is one of the most respected all-terrain tyres in Europe; Eurowinter HS01 is a sensible mid-tier winter.

Local picture

Falken in Surrey

Falken is our default mid-tier recommendation when budget matters but performance can’t suffer. Common on M-Sport BMWs, AMG-line Mercedes, and Audi S-line where the customer doesn’t want to spend Pirelli money. Wildpeak A/T3WA is on a lot of local Defenders.

FAQ

Falken — your questions, answered

Is Falken a budget tyre?+
No — Falken is solidly mid-tier. Pricing sits ~25-35% below premium brands, but tested performance is much closer than the price suggests, often within 5-10% of Michelin and Continental on the same size. A genuinely strong value-for-performance choice.
Azenis FK510 vs Pilot Sport 5 — what’s the trade-off?+
Pilot Sport 5 wins on outright dry grip at the limit, slightly better wet braking, and longer tread life. Azenis FK510 typically £25-50 cheaper per tyre. For a daily-driven performance saloon, the cost difference often outweighs the small performance gap. For a weekend track-focused car, stick with Pilot Sport.
Wildpeak A/T3WA — actually good off-road?+
Yes — independently tested as one of the top 3 all-terrain tyres in Europe. Real-world experience matches: aggressive enough for green-lane use, refined enough not to roar on motorway. Common on locally-owned Defenders and Wranglers.
