About Goodyear

Goodyear has been the largest American tyre manufacturer since 1898 and operates 47 factories worldwide. It owns Dunlop in Europe (separate brand, same factories), and Sava (budget). The Eagle line is the UHP performance range; Vector 4Seasons is the all-season range; Wrangler is the 4×4 and all-terrain range.

The Vector 4Seasons Gen-3 is one of the most respected all-season tyres in Europe — close to Michelin CrossClimate in capability and usually a touch cheaper. The Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6 (launched 2024) is a serious UHP contender, competitive with Pilot Sport 5 and SportContact 7 in independent testing.

Goodyear’s engineering focus is durable wet performance — their compounds are tuned to maintain grip across the full tread life of the tyre rather than just when new. The Eagle F1 at 4mm typically out-grips many rivals at 6mm.

FAQ

Goodyear — your questions, answered

Is Goodyear premium or mid-tier?+
Premium. Goodyear sits in the same tier as Michelin, Continental, Pirelli, Bridgestone — but is often priced 10-15% below them, which sometimes confuses buyers. Quality is genuine top-tier.
Vector 4Seasons vs Michelin CrossClimate 3 — which?+
Both excellent. CrossClimate 3 has a slight edge on wet grip and very-cold-weather performance. Vector 4Seasons typically £10-15 cheaper. For most UK drivers either is a strong year-round choice.
Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6 — how does it compare to Pilot Sport / SportContact?+
Independent testing puts it within a couple of points of both. Slightly behind on outright dry grip at the limit; slightly ahead on wet braking under load. Usually 10-15% cheaper. A strong UHP choice especially for performance saloons.
Are Goodyear and Dunlop the same?+
Same manufacturer (Goodyear owns Dunlop in Europe), often made in the same factories, but tuned differently. Dunlop is positioned slightly more performance-focused. Generally interchangeable for the same vehicle.
How long do Goodyear tyres last?+
Vector 4Seasons on a daily driver: 30,000-40,000 miles. Eagle F1 on a performance car: 18,000-22,000 miles. Wrangler AT on a Defender: 22,000-30,000 miles.
